About
We are based at 9a Foss Street, Dartmouth TQ6 9DW.
The Dartmouth Community Bookshop is a not-for-profit community benefit society, set up specially to sell new books to local people and visitors to Dartmouth following the closure of the famous Harbour Bookshop in September 2011. We believe that many people want to buy books in a bookshop and we want our shop to be a focus for booklovers in the area and to help promote reading and literacy in all age groups.
We stock a good selection of new books for adults and children of all ages. To order and buy our books, come and see us. We are happy to help with selection. We also stock lots of popular greeting cards, local postcards, and sell and redeem National Book Tokens. Orders are usually delivered in 24 - 48 hours.
Our selection includes fiction, nautical, cookery, biography, history and military, travel, local history, guides and maps and more. We have lots of children's books, for tots to teens. We are keeping alive the connection with Christopher Robin Milne (who founded the Harbour Bookshop in the 1950s) by selling new Winnie-the-Pooh books and cards, and some collector's items.
Andrea Saunders who worked in the Harbour Bookshop for many years is our professional, paid manager and orders our stock of new books. The rest of us work as volunteers.
